April Smith Oedipus Rex         Oedipus Rex, a play by Sophocles, is a detective murder-mystery. It is the tap of Liaus, a murdered power, and his utter avenger, Oedipus. Oedipus, husband of Jocasta (Liauss widow) is the current queen regnant of Thebes. As an incentive, he offers amnesty to those who reveal information. He curses those who keep silent. Oedipus vows to vindicate all who withhold knowledge.         The female monarch then sends for Creon to seek information about the assassination.
